The major endeavor in Brazosport is the petrochemical industry. Dow Chemical Co., BASF and other such concerns have large facilities in Freeport. The majority of the petrochemical industry's cognitive elite live in Lake Jackson or other more affluent communities, including some who commute from the Sugar Land area and Houston.
